Experience of having served patients over 21 years through challenging times

Experience of having served patients over 21 years through challenging times

From intern to specialist, I’ve surgically managed patients ranging from newborns to elderlies as old as 108 years, providing unwavering care even during crises like the mega-earthquake and COVID-19. Notably, I led Nepal’s first surgery on a COVID-positive patient and developed key safety protocols.

  • Starting my career as an intern and progressing through rigorous training, I’ve had the privilege of caring for a diverse range of patients, from newborns to the elderly—my oldest surgical patient being a remarkable 108-year-old Japanese woman. Throughout my journey, I’ve worked in a variety of medical settings, including ICUs, infectious disease wards, and community hospitals, treating both medical and surgical cases with compassion and expertise.
  • Even during the most challenging times, such as the devastating 2015 earthquake and the global COVID-19 pandemic, I remained committed to providing uninterrupted care. I led the team that performed Nepal’s first surgery on a COVID-positive patient, a monumental step that required us to quarantine for two weeks to ensure safety. Amid these unprecedented challenges, I took the initiative to develop comprehensive protocols for safe surgical management, ensuring that we could continue delivering high-quality care, even in the face of crisis.
